Steve Pocztowski is the Secretary-Treasurer and Principal officer of Local 705. He has been a member of Local 705 for over 35 years. Steve began his UPS career in 1974 working part time on the docks then became a full time package car Driver and eventually moved to Feeder Driver. He was appointed Union Steward for the Northbrook Drivers by former principal officer Louis Pieck. During that time he worked closely with his drivers while handling grievances and getting involved with contract negotiations. In 1994, Steve joined the Local 705 staff as part of the Trusteeship imposed by the International in 1993. When the Local came out of Trusteeship in 1995, Steve was elected as a Business agent. Following that, he served as a Trustee through 2000. In 2000 he ran for office as part of an opposition slate that did not succeed in winning. He returned to Feeder driver at UPS. In 2003 his slate ran a successful campaign and he was elected to the office he holds today. Since he has been Secretary-Treasurer, he answered the call of International President Hoffa and International Vice President at Large Ken Hall to be part of the IBT/UPS National Negotiating Committee and the IBT/UPS Freight National Negotiating Committee in 2007. Steve has been married to his wife Linda for over 17 years. They have 2 boys Stephen and Kevin.

Joe Bakes is the President of Local 705.He has been a member of Local 705 for over 25 years. Joe began his career at Dominick Cartage in 1984 where he first became a member of Local 705. He worked there as a city driver until the fall of 1987, when he went to work at Yellow Freight. The majority of his time at Yellow was working in the shuttle operation, where he was appointed Steward by former Secretary-Treasurer Gerald Zero. As Steward, Joe worked very hard to protect his co-workers and the work they performed. Joe was elected President in 2003, the office he still holds today.
