Mike started in 1997 as a Local Driver at USF Holland. He was elected as a delegate to the 2001 IBT Convention and was appointed Union Representative for the Kankakee Area members in January 2004. Since shortly after his appointment as Union Representative, Mike has held positions with the Kankakee Federation of Labor and is currently Secretary-Treasurer of that organization. He is also active in the Committee on Political Education, Community Services Inc and the American Red Cross in the Kankakee Area. Mike has a BA from DePaul University and has done Labor Studies at the George Meany Center, the Labor Arbitration Institute and the Teamsters Leadership Academy.
